A Jane Austen Garden Party

shrub walk vertical

Join the Eastern Washington/Northern Idaho Region for "A Jane Austen Garden Party," to be held at a residence on Spokane's South Hill. We will celebrate Austen at 250 with tea, lemonade, a gourmet dessert bar, festive savories, and the company of fellow Janeites.

After tea, Michele Barrow will lead a tour of nearby Manito Park and talk about "The Regency Shrubbery: 'In Fine Weather.'" We will discuss the layout of Regency shrubbery; what plants were prized, including American imports; and how shrubberies were used in Austen's novels for private conversation (including proposals) and reflection.

Space is limited and registration will close on May 14.
