JASNA will sponsor a tour to England from July 7-17, with a special focus on Sense and Sensibility.
Join fellow JASNA members for a tour of the houses, towns, and cities that shaped Jane Austen’s life and fiction, sites related to Jane Austen’s family, and locations associated with Sense and Sensibility in Devon and London.
The tour begins in Windsor, then heads west to Bath to visit sites associated with Jane Austen and her family. Spend time in Lyme Regis, where you can walk on the Cobb and explore the Philpott Museum to learn about the fossil hunter Mary Anning. Next, travel to Exeter for “a Day in Devon with the Dashwoods," featuring visits to Pynes House in Upton Pyne, Dawlish, and Teignmouth, before journeying to Mompesson House in Salisbury.
While in Hampshire, visit Jane Austen’s House, Chawton House, St. Nicholas Church in Steventon, and St. Nicholas Church in Chawton. You will also take part in a memorial ceremony at Jane Austen's grave in Winchester Cathedral and attend the Annual General Meeting of the Jane Austen Society (UK). Visit The Vyne before continuing to London for a tour of some of the sights associated with Sense and Sensibility.
